JOB VACANCIES

There are currently no active Vacancy Announcements.

The Hydrologic Research Laboratory is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are in the modern, recently completed NOAA Headquarters building complex adjacent to the Silver Spring, Maryland, Metro (subway) station. This affords our employees and visitors easy commuting to Washington, D.C., and the greater Maryland and Virginia suburbs.

The Hydrologic Research Laboratory has six major areas of research and development underway: 1) NOAA Hydrologic Data System; 2) Hydrologic Modeling; 3) River Forecast Center (RFC) Forecast Systems; 4) Weather Forecast Office (WFO) Hydrologic forecast System; 5) Hydrometeorological Analysis; and, 6) River Mechanics.

Our purpose is to support the delivery of flood and streamflow forecasting services by 13 River Forecast Centers and 120 Weather Forecast Offices throughout the country. We do this by developing, implementing and maintaining state-of-the-art hydrologic models and systems. We provide training and operational support for NWS field offices, conduct necessary hydrologic research and studies, provide hydrologic expertise and support for a variety of other users both nationally and internationally. Also, as appropriate, we participate in scientific gatherings and publish in professional journals.
